Jeff Elgie is a born and raised entrepreneur. From the age of 15 he has founded, owned and operated businesses in the Information Technology and Digital Communications sectors. In 2013, he retired as the founder and CEO of Lucidia Ltd., the largest Integrated Marketing Communications agency in Northern Ontario and moved on to become the CEO and majority shareholder of Village Media. Jake Cormier, Director of Finance & Operations
With over fifteen years of experience in online media and a background in computer science and systems design, Jake Cormier is uniquely positioned as an expert in the field of digital media. Jake has worked in every role over the years, including design, sales, marketing, writing, and management. He built LOCAL2 from the ground up with a custom CMS, and then built a company to operate it, quickly growing it to compete against SooToday. In 2013, Jeff and Jake joined forces, resulting in the creation of Village Media. Dennis Houle, Creative Director
After more than a decade in the manufacturing industry, Dennis moved North from Windsor, Ontario and went back to school to pursue a career in the field of art & design, something he was very passionate about. After excelling in the design program, winning awards and graduating with honours, Dennis began his new career with Village Media. This exciting new venture has helped to shape Dennis into a well rounded designer, with rich experiences in web design, news media, user experience and advertising. Mike Purvis, Managing Editor
Michael Purvis has built his career on hyper-local news. From his first days as a reporter at the Alaska Highway Daily News in Northern B.C., he has sought to expose the issues both big and small that matter to people in a community. In the decade and a half he has spent as a journalist, Michael has been eager to embrace new ways of telling stories, from social media, to online video. Michael joined Village Media in 2014 to lead the newsroom at SooToday.com and now guides hyper-local news coverage at the company’s quickly growing group of online news firstname.lastname@example.org
John Hammill, Director of Advertising / Regional Publisher
John sports a vast and diverse portfolio in operations and advertising sales management acquired during his time with many large media organizations across the country during his 20-year career.
John also holds the dual role of Regional Publisher of our properties across Simcoe County. A staunch community supporter, John has previously served and currently participates on many boards and associations in his hometown of Orillia. Jasmyn Rowley, Director of Communications & Community Engagement
Jasmyn Rowley has been working in the realm of communication, media and public relations across Canada for over a decade. Her various roles in the broadcast industry include work as a news anchor, reporter, host, producer and news writer for television, internet and radio.
In addition to her background in media, Jasmyn has built a vast portfolio in the public relations and event management realm. She has completed a variety of results-driven campaigns for clients across the country, including top actors, musicians, authors, television and film productions, and high-profile events.
